A flag for the cabin porch!

We enjoy having a flag on the dock but decided that the porch would also be a good place for one. In the winter we will be able to fly the red, white, and blue.
Always a little project for Jeff to do at the lake :)!

Tony & Linda come for a visit!

My Uncle Tony and Aunt Linda stopped by at the cabin on Saturday. They are snow birds and will be leaving by the 13th of September so we wanted to be able to see them before they leave. Jeff and I try to visit them sometime during the winter in Sun Lakes and they are always such gracious host/hostess. When we are there we usually make ribs and Dago (sp?) sausage so on this visit we wanted to be able to share our "South American's" along with some jellies and applesauce. Uncle Tony gave me the thumbs up on the "South American's" but he also said a little more pepper would to be OK too! --- and Linda also shared a couple bag patterns with me as well. She gave me her old sewing machine for the lake since then I don't have to carry mine back and forth. Us sewers must stick together. Anyway they are very special to both of us and always a treat when we can visit with them!

Anniversary's are fun!

We celebrated Abby and Dan's 2nd wedding anniversary! Our youngest! (-- they take the best pictures - love those smiles)

--- and the canning continues :)

It all started with Jeff picking the choke cherries from the tree by the garage - so on to the apples that dropped on the ground. Applesauce and apple jelly - hmmm what should I try next??
(I have been wanting for years to make "South American's" - that might be my next canning adventure! Off to visit with the butcher.)

Jeff was busy trimming but always willing to help with a project!

"Another Road Trip"

This time Rodger and Jeff joined us. We found two more quilt shops and the boys found a new "5th Wheel" for traveling :)

What a hoot - who do you think will buy it?

"Beat the Heat Quilt Retreat '09"

We're all packed up and ready to leave at 8:30 am. We traveled to Kimball, St. Cloud, Foley, two shops in Brainerd, Pequot Lakes, and Pine River arriving at the cabin about 7:30 pm.

This year we decided to make runners with the MN quilt fabric.

Sewing spaces ----- :)

The cabin has just the right amount of space for our "habit."

"Liz and Abby"

These ladies have the "new" sewing machines that work magic with their expertise. Abby was working on a "four patch posie" and Liz was creating small quilt squares for her fall quilt retreat.

"The Hostess' with their daughters"

Danielle, Laura, Emma, & Natalie were the hostess' this year! They made each of us these cute makeup bags with goodies inside. Mine had a "B" on it with two buttons - too cool!

Thanks ladies!

Our youngest quilters -

What fun to watch Natalie help Grandma thread her needle - Gram's eyes are getting old - need the extra help. Then there is Emma just sewing away - we know our craft will continue on - maybe there is still a chance that "my stash" will be used!

"Beat the Heat Quilt Retreat '09"

The theme of our retreat along with quilting was "rest & relaxation." Along with that came the great food - you can see us enjoying!

Cabin Project Update 8/9

Dan and Joe finished putting edging and rock around the cabin. The doors also were painted.
Thanks Guys, looking good!

Weekend at "Tamarack" with Grandma Nadeau and the Fischer's

John helping with breakfast!
This sign was a gift for my Dad one Christmas - only a thought away - I think he would like where we put it.

Grandma had a busy weekend fishing and keeping the fires going!

Learning about her rod and all loaded on the boat ready to fish!

John and Natalie enjoying the swings!

Lunch

My cousin Ann and I took my Mom to lunch today (8/5). What a great time we had visiting. Ann has become a quilter :-)!!!! So a visit to a quilt shop was also included.

"Hamilton Picnic"

Jeff's Mom's Mother's maiden name was Hamilton. On the first Sunday of August the cousins gather for a picnic at Lake Independence. This year Jeff and I were able to attend. Hopefully we will be able to post a group picture of "Neva & Joe Holmes Family" at a later date. We were in the process of gathering for a prayer.
