For the last several years Jeff has helped organize and send off all the different units that make up the Rock'n Roger's Parade. This year was no different - 108 units along with 7 marching bands. It is fun parade. When Jeff leaves at 5 am on the Saturday - he takes my "pink chair" and finds the best spot for me. Some years others join me - this year the Brockmeier's came. It is a great parade - the kids love it - lots of treats too!

Nancy Retires!
Through the years I have had the pleasure to have many wonderful principals. Nancy Elsmore has been one of my favorites (I guess, my favorite woman principal)! There are so many accolades that I can express but probably the most important one is that kids were #1 right along with her teachers. There was never any doubt that Nancy was ready to give you both support and encouragement.
My very best to you, Nancy!
"George Trancheff Memorial Swing"
The swing arrived 3 years ago as an anniversary gift from all the kids for us to enjoy at the lake ----- and it has been enjoyed! Well, it reminded all of us of another swing that we enjoyed for many summers at a small resort on Lake Vermilion. That week was always enjoyed - it usually included mini family reunions with my "Range relatives" - extra time with my parents - and of course fishing and enjoying the lake ---- and the stars shine the brightest up north. Anyway there was this swing that was unique. The owner of the resort was George & Maryann Trancheff. George had worked in the underground mine at Tower Soudan for many years. We think he was a "creative genius." He had the most interesting "things/contraptions" around the resort. Well there was this swing and since getting it Abby has given accessories for the swing that mimics George's swing. Each occasion she & Dan have given ropes, hooks, fly swatters, and now for Father's Day the sign. Please note - one more thing to add is the awning - then the sign will be put into place. So when anyone comes to the lake for a visit be sure to enjoy the swing by the lake. I can still hear the kids splashing in the water! Thanks Ab & Dan!
Father's Day 2010
Jeff received wishes from all the kids this weekend! Such fun to get each phone call - they are quite the bunch - I only wish they could have seen his face with each call. It is amazing how special a phone call is on the day that celebrates "Dad."

Mary Retired!
Mary and I taught together at Salk Middle School for a number of years. She has been not only a teaching colleague but also a quilting buddy. Although some of us moved to different schools (& retire) we have continued to gather to celebrate birthdays and to make quilts for friends - for whatever reason - to convey messages of care or celebration. This is Mary with her "retirement quilt" - a celebration!
Cousin Tom Retired!
Tom retired this month after teaching for 41 years! He looks oh so happy! Tom taught in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and finished in 2010. That must mean he is really old - not so bad for an "old guy." Just teasing, Tom & his wife Ann (who retired two years ago) seem to be ready to begin new adventures.

Is this what retirement will be like?
"Memorial Day Weekend 2010"
Jeff and I enjoyed our kids, grandkids, and Jeff's Mom this past holiday. We spent time at our cabin on Esquagamah Lake. As I was picking out pictures for the blog, I had a hard time since there were so many different activities that we did. What a fun bunch - many stories to remember. The weather was fabulous! I hope this doesn't get to be too much - but we did do a lot! Enjoy!

Early Anniversary
Dan and Abby decided that since we were at the cabin we should celebrate our anniversary a little early (June 9th) so they gave us a "Bean Bag" game - it has our name on it and everything. We had a great time playing during the weekend. Thanks Dan and Ab!

(Dan and Abby made this - I think they could start a cottage industry - anyone want to place an order?)
